Each time you lose yourself in the present moment or doing something you love – you go into a meditative state.

Meditation is a wonderful tool available to everyone, from children to the elderly. It is free and deeply satisfying. The benefits of Meditation span far and wide – from the general understanding that meditation helps to relax and calm the mind, it also helps to gain new perspectives on stressful situations and helps to build skills to manage stress.

Benefit 1: Negative mind chatter and emotions

Meditation provides the ability to snap out of mental-chatter and reduce negative emotions by increasing self-awareness, patience and tolerance.

Benefit 2: Mind and body healing

Meditation reboots our energy and bodily systems because it allows us to tap into Theta brainwave functionality. During theta brainwave activity, both the body and mind experience enhanced rejuvenation, growth, and healing. Due to the deep levels of relaxation that theta brainwaves facilitate, the body and mind are easily able to restore themselves during and after illness, as well as after mental burnout and physical exertion.

Benefit 3: Accessing the unconscious mind

Theta is an important brainwave, not only because it facilitates the ideal mental and physiological state for healing, it also enables us to access the power and wisdom of our unconscious mind, that is normally inaccessible in more alert states.

Benefit 4: Improving immunity

Stress and anxiety can do harm to the immune system by releasing a surplus of harmful chemicals such as adrenaline, including the hormone cortisol, which in oversupply are damaging to the immune system. Meditation activates the release of pleasant Seratonin chemicals and neurotransmitters which help to keep your immune system at it’s peak.

Benefit 5: Increase intuition

Through Meditation and accessing theta brainwaves, your intuition will increase as well as your ability to identify ‘gut’ feelings. In other words, your ability to ‘see’ and ‘hear’ outside the borders of the physical senses expands, and therefore your perception of reality expands too. Through training your brain with meditation, self hypnosis or brain entrainment, you awaken your deeper intelligence, also known as the ‘inner genius’.

Meditation is a gift, for the myriad of benefits it provides for a healthy and high functioning body and mind. Grow and expand your meditation rituals in enjoyable and creative ways, and you will enjoy the many gains and benefits meditation provides.
