Your skin can look and feel fabulous and healthy all year round. Our skin is the largest organ on our bodies and it takes the brunt of what the seasons give it. The skin is important for our overall health; it breathes, regulates our temperature and protects internal body structures. The changing seasons play a vital role in the health and vitality of our skin and how it reacts to these climate changes.

Here is our guide for fabulous healthy skin through every season of the year.

SPRING SEASON

Spring is a great time to let your skin go au natural and lighten up on the makeup. Throw out any makeup and brushes over six months old as they can host a build-up of bacteria, leading to clogged pores and dull skin. You can also wash your brushes at least once a week with regular hand soap and dry them with a blow-dryer. Something that’s so simple can have a huge impact on the overall health of skin.

Ditch your heavy-duty creams for airier lotions or serums. In the spring, your skin is typically oilier, which means your complexion can handle stronger skin care ingredients, like retinol Vit A, to help improve skin tone, fight acne, and minimize the appearance of fine lines.

Calm any skin redness or inflammation with our Rose Hydrating Facial Hydrosol. A gentle and hydrating facial mist that re-balances while neutralising skin impurities. It has a natural calming effect as you use it through the day to re-fresh and re-set makeup or use as an alcohol-free natural toner before you apply your moisturiser.

SPA TIP

Place your hydrosol in the fridge to use as a refreshing cooling spritz on warmer days. Excellent for those that work in an air-conditioned environment for a hydration boost.

SUMMER SEASON

Summer comes with a whole lot of pros: longer days, nicer weather, beach season.

Our skin tends to hold more water in the spring and summer, so you won’t need as much heavy hydration and instead opt for Hyaluronic acid-or water-based products to keep you looking fresh.

While using a moisturizer with an SPF is fine for winter, the importance of a sunscreen—separate from your lotion and makeup—that’s ideally a chemical and fragrance free natural mineral SPF is important during Summer.

Create that gorgeous glowy look by Exfoliating and slough off dry, dead skin cells and restore a fresh glow to the skin. Gentle exfoliation once a week either wet or dry with our Body Mitt helps improve skin tone, texture, circulation and can reduce cellulite. If you use self-tanners, it helps them go on more evenly and last longer.

AUTUMN SEASON

When the winds blow, keep your skin moist and supple. Ditch the soap. Exfoliate with an oil-based scrub. Switch from lotion to cream and invest in hand cream.

Do your skin a favour and ditch the drying soap and replace with sulphate free Botanical Hand Wash. Protect your skin from the drying effects of the cooling winds that the fall season brings, moisturise frequently switching from light lotions to richer creams, especially your hands. Applying Rose and Shea Hydrating Hand Cream after each washing will help with the drying effect that constant washing and wind has on the skin.

Sometimes when skin is very dry, it can be helped by foods or supplements that contain omega-3 or omega-6 fatty acids, such as fish oil and flaxseed oil. Eating nutritious food and hydrating with filtered water are crucial tips on maintaining great healthy skin and overall health, in colder seasons and throughout the year.

Exfoliating your face and body should be a-once-a week ritual. Our popular body care  Wattleseed and Walnut Resurfacing Cream is as nourishing for your senses as it is for your skin. It has a creamy texture which gives beautiful hydration whilst effectively refreshes the skin with it’s multi-active exfoliators & fruit enzymes.

WINTER SEASON

Cold, dry air can leave your skin itchy, red, and irritated. There are many simple ways to combat the causes of dry winter skin and help keep your skin feeling moist and supple all season long, including some easy changes to your everyday routine. For example, after taking a not-quite-so-hot shower, blot your skin dry and apply a thick layer of Ultra Rich Moisturiser within a few minutes after bathing to seal the water into the skin. This is perfect for retaining your skin’s natural moisture and protection.

Protect your dry, chapped winter lips with ultra-intensive lip treatment Sweet Orange Lip Balm that nourishes and conditions while sealing in long lasting lip moisture.

Perfect to heal and hydrate dry chapped lips and protect against the cold, dry atmosphere in the winter season.

Our skin changes with the seasons, listen to your body and how your skin is feeling and adjust your care as needed. Always drink plenty of water to hydrate and eat wholesome foods. And be kind to yourself by using good quality and chemical-free products on your skin- the largest organ of your body.
